A combination of separate bicycle paths and on street through low volume streets. Most major streets in Madison have a wide curb lane or bike lane so I will take those if I need to get somewhere quickly.
Winter riding is much easier now than 20 years ago, with hub generators and studded tires easily available along with more effective clothing options.
