I'm fortunate to live in a community with numerous bike paths. In my daily commute to work, I only have 1 1/2 miles where I have to deal with traffic..
I don't think I'll ever own an automobile again..
Tried a 70 mile round-trip between San Pedro and Westwood when I was in college. P.C.H. to Hawthorne to Sepulveda and back. Had a beer can thrown at me as well as the usual discourtesies bicyclists suffer. Gave that up after a month or two. Got maced once by a motorist. Other than that, I can't think of anything really extaordinary...
