Major arterials are the fastest place to get anywhere.
Whenever traffic gets light again, it's tempting to drive. It's when a 25 minute drive turns into 45 minutes from congested traffic that I'm reminded why bicycling is so great. After a long bout of driving due to light traffic, I vowed to ride the next Monday. It rained on Sunday night. Monday morning I got a flat, then fell turning a banked corner due to slick road surface. Another treasured recollection is a police officer citing a motorcyclist for driving in the bike lane. After cheering silently to myself, I immediately punctured on debris in the bike lane after rounding the next corner.
